Filmed entirely on the Panasonic GX85 Handheld.
I had an amazing time filming with the Panasonic GX85. It was so liberating to shoot handheld but get the look of a monopod, tripod, slider and in some cases steadicam.
I've never felt more free to move about in a documentary/wedding production before. I can't wait to see what Panasonic has to bring out in the future (i.e. GH5???).
The camera has its quirks, but as of June 2016 there is nothing that can offer what it offers in the way of a liberating storytelling tool.
With the 12-35 OIS lens, I did wish I used the AF-S feature more to pre-focus my shots because the rear LCD screen although extremely bright for outdoor use (~800 NITS by my estimation) it still can be sometimes hard to gauge focus even with peaking activated. So what the AF-S feature does is allow the operator to push auto focus once, this is super handy for run n' gun style filming. So in the future I'll be using this more.
Gear Details:
Panasonic 12-35 F2.8 OIS with 5-Axis Stabilization + Electronic Stabilization
Voigtlander 17.5 F0.95 with 3-Axis Stabilization + Electronic Stabilization
Only 4-shots stabilized in post:
1) "Happy Wedding Day" sign shot
2) Wine Glass shot
3) Pouring of wine shot
4) Backyard rear punch-in shot (this is also the only shot done in 4K).
All shots recorded internally to AVCHD 1080p@24fps. The only exception is the backyard rear punch-in shot, this was done in 4K, MP4 @ 30fps.
Picture profile is Natural with contrast, sharpness and saturation dialed down.
Audio of the ceremony was captured via the Olympus DM420 and Countryman B6 W4 lav as well as an Olympus VN702-PC with a Senheisser ME2 lav.
The candid shots such as the bride prep, pig prep...etc had the audio captured directly via the onboard mic of the GX85 with the audio levels boosted and tweaked in post via Adobe Audition.
